Call for Papers

Oral and Visual History found especially in recent years “citizenship” also in the historical – educational field, at national and international level. The most recent prospects of historical research are actually moving towards the use of voices, sounds and images for the reconstruction of the transformation of individual and collective identity processes, in public and private everyday contexts, and also through the collective vision. Families, family relationships and cultures, and the universe of intergenerational relations as well are fields of research that can be enriched by the use of this type of sources. This monographic issue aims to collect contributions that can feed and strengthen this dimension of the historical research on family educational memories in contemporary times, and it will be divided into the following sections:

  • Methods and sources
  • Memories of family education and social transformations in the national contexts
  • “Family educational memory” in Europe: comparative studies
  • Pedagogical models and educational approaches

Papers should have a maximum extension of 7.000 words (including footnotes and bibliography). For editorial criteria please refer to the editorial standards available on the website of the journal. All papers received will be evaluated according to the double blind peer review system. Accepted languages: Italian, English. Contributions should be sent to the Editors of this special issue not later than October 20th, 2016 to both addresses: emiliano.macinai@unifi.it, and stefano.oliviero@unifi.it.
